Orange and Banana Yoghurt Thickie

I think there’s a trend to call this kind of thing, ‘thickies’. It’s not quite a smoothie, not a milkshake yet thicker than a flavoured milk. The addition of the yoghurt makes it less sweet. It’s a bit like a melted frozen yoghurt.

Whilst the winter can feel like a desolate time for fruit fanatics, oranges are in their prime in the winter. There is a wide variety with flavours that peak at different times throughout the season, much the same as apples. Navel oranges are sweet and seedless, making them a good choice for this recipe.

INGREDIENTS

Makes 2 glasses

4 oranges
2 bananas
2 dessert spoons of coconut yoghurt
100ml of almond milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

METHOD

Halve the oranges and squeeze them using a citrus press.. Peel the bananas and place them in the blender with the orange juice and remaining ingredients. Whizz until smooth.
